I take something like this http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...71%7CSuitcases
Removable wheels are good as they don't get caught on other luggage in the hold and get damaged. Pockets on the outside are also good but very pilferable so either have a lock on the zip or don[t keep anything valuable there. You can get expanding versions whichare also useful if you think you're going to bring back more than you're taking. Also look for carrying handles on the side and top to make it easier to carry up steps or onto buses.
Do what the Italians do, SBP, wear most of your clothes.
My MiL says take your old knickers, then leave 'em in the bin once worn!
Get a trolley one with wheels and an extendable handle - much easier.
Lay longest items on the bed, flat. Shorter ones on top, then roll up tight and pack in case like a row of sausages. You'll have less ironing to do when you get there - just hang 'em up!
If Mikey gets out of that damn case, you want to lock it quick - you won't be able to lift it with me in there!
Have a lovely trip.
