tonights programme was very good it helped me see how my grandparents coped during this time. Both my grandads were active in the war one in the army the other in the merchant navy so their wives had to cope bringing up kids 1 in the country the other in a town in hampsire

I enjoyed it as well - just a shame Ruth hasn't worked out how to tie a tidy headscarf - never seen anything as bad as that

                    • Thought it was good too - loved the idea of making your own feather dusters....!!

Agree about the scarf business too!

                          • From those photos, I would choose to wear the austerity clothes in preference to the pre-war ones. I don't do frills and flounces! Think I'll have a go at tying a turban for a laugh!!

                              • Enjoyed the second one much more than the first although there is still a certain clueless element to their endeavours. Anybody know if you can filter modern red diesel through bread by the way?.......... just wondering for wonderings sake, obviously

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
