My cats eat them if'n they can catch them.....
My seems to be full of what's known locally as wolf spiders. Great big chunky things. They don't seem to make webs. And they can jump. If you try to squish them they'll have a go back. And they terrify the life out of me. I feel really ill just thinking about them. I feel bad typing this.Jules

Apart from loathing Earwigs, which seem to be everywhere at the moment, and Craneflies (Daddy Long-legs), which give me the creeps, I also can't abide Slugs of any shape size or colour. There's one by my IBC in the garden at the moment - huge fat orange thing it is. Bleeeeuuuggghhh!
I have never, ever (despite being female), ever, been scared of Spiders. Until this weekend. The biggest Wolf Spider I have EVER seen climbed out onto the lip of my Wheel barrow, and glared at me. I took a good-sized step backwards, and told it that it could do what it wanted, and go wherever it chose, just so long as it didn't come near me. First time I've ever refused to pick one up and move it to safety.
It had a body around 2cm long, and its legs spread at least 8cm whilst resting. Had it stretched out, I have no doubt it would've spanned in the region of 14-15cm - made me shudder! Didn't realise they made 'em that big!
EDIT: It was a Giant House Spider - I gurgled it.All the best - Glutton 4 Punishment

I got bitten the other day by a tiny little bug and its still annoying me, the hole it cut was like a scissors cut, and I felt it straight away. it was about 3mm in length and had black and pale yellow/cream pattern on its back. I have no idea what it was, I was leaning against a shed at the time chatting to one of my neighbouring plotholders.
I'm used to being bitten by horseflys, this bite is just as annoying but it was the size of the thing that startled me. It was tiny. I wish I knew what it was.I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

Wolf Spiders???!! What are they? They sound bad to meI am also a daddy-log-legs-phobic! They used to hang about near the gym at school, while we waited outside and they'd crackle about and get tangled in your hair! They FREAK me out! There was one in the poly tunnel on Saturday - I nearly flattened my (large) husband trying to get out screeching "It's going for my hair"!!! Crackly little things ugh
