Its the North side of the house so doesn't get much sun. The greenhouse is on the next level up behind the logstore! I'm trying to fit an entrance hallway, and a separate utility room for the dogs, central heating boiler, washing machine, tumble drier and freezer, as well as as much storage space as I can manage. Its like a big jigsaw puzzle, and so far, I haven't solved it!

VC if I may offer advice. Do save keep doing sketch's draw out the ground area, the make some cut outs of the items you which to fit in the space and play with them like a jigsaw.
Don't forget the boilers got a flue.

Thanks Potty. That's roughly what I'm doing! The boiler, and plumbing need to go on the back wall, otherwise everything is up for grabs. I have a front door and a window to fit in on the front wall but the internal partition can be anywhere. The height is governed by the previous joint to the main house but I can do whatever I like with the ceilings inside - need to raise them from the previous version because tall folk like you would hit their head on the lights!!
The crucial decision at the moment is where to fit the window and door as they're hoping to have the external work finished by next weekend. Its keeping me occupied while its damp and miserable outside

Light bulb moment! The bladdy door that I wanted to reuse opens the wrong way for my carefully worked out plan on the back of an envelope! I need a brainwave in the next 10 hours or a new front door. Before you ask, its a horrible UPVC door and I hate it, but I have it and that should be good enough reason to use it
I hate it even more now.....

Doors are a bu**er to fit in. Usually find that a corner situation leaves most working wall space.
You are going to have to live with this for hopefully a very long time so the cost of a new door in the scheme of things is not a lot to pay.
It would be awful to walk in in 6 months and have to think 'If only'.

You're absolutely right, Potty. A new door is a small price to pay, considering how much the rest will cost A traditional wooden door, half glazed, should do nicely.
I'm almost there with my plan - I keep forgetting about the dog flap, that needs to go out to the back of the house too. 9 hours to go before the builders appear They usually whistle loudly when they arrive, just to warn me!
