reminds me a little bit of scrap heap challenge but without the cars!
Now then Janeyo, you've got me thinking on so many levels...

If you don't like obscure glass, what do you have in the bathroom?

I think anyone that can perform on camera, is pretty remarkable....., but I don't remember seeing a scrapheap where they pee'd.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

our ensuite (before we turned it into a corridor to the extension did nt have obscure glass - but not overlooked by anyone. I only have it if I absolutely have to, it kind of spooks me LOL. Like when you go up to a front door and you know someone is there but you don't know who because you can't see through the glass.

It could catch on, scrapheap challenge using bodily fluids?!

I have clear glass in the bathroom and toilet in Cardiff (on the 1st floor) and I wanted clear glass in West Wales too but the builders defied me and put obscure glass in. They said it wasn't right to have clear glass on the ground floor and with hindsight they were right. Its a bit off-putting when you're in the shower to see someone walk past the window - feels like Psycho! When I want a loo with a view I leave the door open

This is one of those shows that's a bit "hmmmm" .....

His "home" might be man made, but it's with specialist tools and equipment that the rest of us just don't have access to .... how many of us have access to a blast furnace or a mobile milling machine or one of those lance things?? How many of us have a bunch of mates with every specialist skill imaginable?

It was great to find out things like "if it has wheels, it doesn't need planning permission" ....

I'd like to see something similar, but for those of us without the endless supply of "old friends" with "specialist skills and equipment" ....

I haven't seen the programme yet but I have some doubts about this. I'm sure there's some rule about siting a caravan and living in it permanently. The 28 day rule perhaps, when you can use your land for some purpose for 28 days a year without planning consent but no longer.

you could be right about that VC .... i'm pretty sure people have had problems with mobile homes being sited "permanently" .... but in any case, it gave me an idea ....

i'm hoping to get to use a local field for allotments .... as it's been used in the past for agriculture, we don't need planning permission to use it for allotments .... however, if we want sheds, we would need planning permission, to which the residents association will object (because sheds are "unsightly") .... but we can probably get round that by parking old vans on site ....

Well, I watched it last night.. Considering everything was supposed to be man made or scrap- those nails and bolts didn't look 'scrap' to me.. I thought they wer4e going to use the old technique of the oak bolts etc.

His beer didn't look very clear either! Will watch the other one later and see. Not sure how much his used car was, but I've been looking online and unless he is buying a second hand Bentley....

You're a weird one Janeyo, if you're going to stalk someone, its a bit off to insist they have clear glass in their front door.

I'm quite glad he used bolts, this is a bolthole after all....
If he had used proper timber joints and pegs then it would have looked better but most of us wouldn't be capable of achieving that. This is not meant as a second home its meant for somewhere to escape to now and again for some r and r.

I wouldn't mind if on that premise its done a little less than perfect. He is using the whole experience as an experiment, trying out things he'd love to have a go at but couldn't unleash on a a paying customer.

That should suit you down to the ground VC.
                      You're very obscure sometimes.

                      Aren't all homes man made?

Me obscure? I thought I was just too transparent sometimes. Must make more effort to be clear then

If you are gonna make your own home, I'd start with good defenses like this one.
