There once was a lass from Wilts
She came walking into Scotland upon stilts
    They said "Madam it's shocking
    You reveal so much stocking"
She said "Yea, well how about those kilts?"

There once was a boy named Lee,
Who always threw rocks at a tree.
    One day when it shivered,
    Lee shaked and quivered
When out shot hundreds of bees!

    ************************

There once was a girl named O'Neil
Who went up on the great London Eye Ferris Wheel
    But when half way around
    She looked at the ground
And it cost her a two quid fish and chips meal
The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies.

There was an old woman called Dot
Who liked to grow veg on her plot
      She composted her weeds
      Then sowed her saved seeds
F1 or GM they were NOT!

There once was a nutter called Dusty
Whose seed stock was getting quite musty,
        He said they're not old,
        Just ignore all the mould,
        Dear Ma'am I assure you, they're lusty

There was an ole' grape called VC
Who was filled with tremendous glee
          For 'pon counting her gourds
          She knew she had hoardes
More seeds than the virtual SP

In Britain we're all so Hap-py
The Mag has arrived here, you see
But in France it won't wash
            They've just had their squash,
            When Nicos wanted a pea.

In Autumn I washed down my poly
              It made me incredibly jolly
              To see it gleam so
              And ready to go
              Get Citrox into your trolley!

There was a young lady from Bude
Who went for a swim in the lake
                A man in a punt
put his pole in the water
and said "Oy, you cant swim here its private!"

All it is, is just a tree,
                  Tall, strong and standing free.
Always there, in its state of change,
                  Lots of leaves to re-arrange.

But soon the autumn wind will blow,
And suddenly, there's a hint of snow.
It loosens its leaves, now crisp and brown,
                  And scatters them all around.

Now the air is thick with ice,
And the sleeping tree it looks so nice,
With all its arms, pale and white,
                  Glowing in the darkest night.

The winter wind then ebbs away,
And blue-white skies they turn to grey,
Then from the grey, rain does fall,
Washing our tree, trunk and all.

So what is this? A little bud?
                  Natures way of feeling good.
                  Soon another one will appear,
For its now that special time of year.

Full of blossom, birds and bees,
It takes its place with other trees.
                  Standing proud and stretching high,
Reaching out to touch the sky.

Now full of all the colours green,
One of natures wonders to be seen.
Home to birds and where squirrels play,
Passing all the hours of the day.

And yet, the days are drawing in,
                  Branches becoming brittle and thin.
Seeds and nuts they form and set,
This time of year we all regret.

Yes, all it is, is just a tree,
                  Tall, strong and standing free.
Always there, in its state of change,
                  Lots of leaves to re-arrange...........

                      In Autumn I'm blue
So I cook up a stew
                      In Winter I hurry
                      To knock up a curry
                      In Spring it's still nippy
We might go to the chippy
                      In Summer it's flowing
                      With all we've been growing
                      But risotto's my wish
                      For a summertime dish

Trying to clean the thread up now

                        I am not a poet,
                        And I know it.

                        This is my favourite poem

My favourite poem is also the shortest one I know:

                            A bit of kulture!

"Be that word our sign in parting, bird or fiend," I shrieked, upstarting-
"Get thee back into the tempest and the Night's Plutonian shore!
Leave no black plume as a token of that lie thy soul hath spoken!
Leave my loneliness unbroken!-quit the bust above my door!
Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door!"
                            Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."

And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
                            On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
                            And the lamplight o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
                            Shall be lifted-nevermore!

*excerpt from "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe

This is also one of my favourites, (I have a lot), by H. D. Peplar:

The law the lawyers know about
                                Is property and land;
But why the leaves are on the trees,
And why the winds disturb the seas,
Why honey is the food of bees,
Why horses have such tender knees,
Why winters come and rivers freeze,
Why faith is more than what one sees,
And hope survives the worst disease,
And charity is more than these,
                                They do not understand.
