I normally access the forums by clicking on "New Posts". Recently I've been getting the following message
"Sorry, there are no new posts to view.

You may search for posts updated during the previous 24 hours, here" the word 'here' being a link.

Anyone else having this problem? It's a real pain

That happens to me if I turn my computer off. When I turn it on again and go to New Posts all the posts from earlier that day are missing and I have to go to Quick links/Today's posts to view them. These also disappear once you go to an individual thread and you have to go through the same process again.

Which browser are you using? And do you have it set up to clear cookies/browsing history when you close it down? I'll point Admin to this thread to see if they know anything or have any suggestions...

If your session data has been cleared, there won't be new posts - which can happen by a few means.. mainly you've cleared your browsing history, or if an update/change has been made on the server (forum software included) then that can reset the data too (as it'll be different).

Chris is right... We often hear about with with users that don't allow cookies to be saved on their machine, or are browsing in Incognito mode on Chrome.

I have the opposite problem; if I close my computer down, then come back to it an hour or so later, and go back to The Vine, when I click on 'New Posts' it gives me all the same new posts as it did before, even if I have read some of them and added a post. ie It shows me as being the last contributor, but shows all the 'unread' posts from last time as 'unread' still. Weird!

Oh, and I use Chrome for Mac, old OS X 11.5.8 and I don't use incognito.

I'm on Chrome. I'm doing nothing different from what I've always done and I haven't changed any settings. I don't clear cookies or browsing history when closing down either.

It's particularly useful if you're looking for, say, Xmas presents for someone who also uses your computer (and who is prone to looking at your history to find out what you're buying for them ). Or for browsing anything that you don't want other people to see...

Click on the spanner in the RH corner of your screen, then select New Incognito Window (it's the 3rd option I think).
Or just Ctrol + Shift + N

I love the warnings they give about the limitations of the 'incognito' mode... especially the last one!

Going incognito doesn't affect the behavior of other people, servers, or software. Be wary of:
