Where do worms come from?

We moved a few scaffolding boards the other week that had only been in that pile about a week.
They'd been clean when they came off the lorry - (well not muddy or wormy anyway).

There were tons of worms on them - not teeny tiny ones. Even on the ones three or four off the ground.

Do worms like climbing or what?

They have found my polytunnel soil and yet the earth around it is packed hard clay. There are loads in my leafmold and I've been placing them inside the poly to keep pulling matter down. I love worms! Someone should make a badge...

Alison is right (of course), they are Hermaphrodites, as are slugs and snails, I believe. Worms is good, but you can keep t'others...
