  • Flood Warnings.....ignored.

    We've had Flood Warnings since last night, with high winds and raging rain storms added to very high tides. Our council chose to ignore them, not even bothering to close the new flood gates that cost millions;

    From what we saw this morning - lots of flooded roads and businesses - the flood gates wouldn't have worked except to trap water between the gates and the sea wall. The water doesn't even drain away when high waves sweep it over the top of the 2ft high gates & wall.

    What a waste of council tax.....

    The person's face responsible for not bothering to use this damage limitation equipment should be on the front page of the local rag. I thought he/she would have lapped up the opportunity to be photographed beside 'their' storm gates.

    Cheers, Tony.

      You can see just how useful the flood gates are in that first photo; possibly a little more so if some official wally had closed them. Two cafes immediately opposite that gate were flooded out - I bet they were impressed!
