They shall grow not old, as we that are left to grow old, age shall now wary them..nor the years condemn, in the going down of the sun and in the morning..we will remember them.

I'm home alone but I shall be thinking and remembering all those who have given their lives in the name of peace.

A beautiful sunny day for me to enjoy, with all the blessings I possess...and so many gave up their chance at this.
How, regardless of what I might feel about any particular conflict, could I not take my hat off in respect to those willing to put that much on the line ?
This year, through an oversight, our local Community Council failed to order a wreath for the War Memorial service here. I have suggested a donation to the Erskine Trust http://http://www.erskine.org.uk/ instead - I'm not sure but what the money shouldn't be going to such charities rather than florists...

When I realised that this morning's race was to start at 10.30am, I made sure that I was wearing my poppy, even if I couldn't observe the silence.

However the race organisers - bless them - had us all in the pen ready for the off and announced a 2min silence then. Half an hour early, maybe but observed impeccably.

Yes,was in a large M & S, and it was announced they would dim the lights, and then 2 mins, was quite moving the whole store silent and reflecting.

One silly man obviously hadn't been listening and said 'oh they must be testing their lights! . His wife almost slapped him, and was obviously very embarrassed.
