  • G.Y.O.Magazine.

Today I came accross the G.Y.O.mag. in our largest outlet in Ireland , so yes, we do have the mag. here. However the cost is prohibitive. It cost 6euro65cents. which is roughly £5.30 sterling. We do have a book and mag.(paper tax) in this country so I was'nt unduly surprised at the cost.
I have been subscribing to Kitchen Garden for the past 3 years and think its a great mag. but after reading so much about gyo I was prepared to maybe change over until I took a look at the diggerence in subscription prices. Its £45 sterling for a 1 year sub. to Kitchen Garden and £69.95 to GYO. This is a sizable difference for two mags that give more or less the same information. Also, the first special offer I looked at said. UK residents only. What can I say, it speaks for itself. There is no point in subscribing if I cannot avail of the offers.
    From one very disappointed gardener.

Bramble, put a search on google for subscriptions to magazines in general. This often brings up offers from major suppliers. My cousins gift sub to me was not via the GYO home page. She shopped around to get the best offer. There was a difference of £20 between the various offers.
Now you know you can get it in Ireland you just need to find the right price. My cousin is in America where it always is a case of shop around on the internet as retail outlets are so spread about. Sometimes people in the USA have to drive miles to pick up a pint of milk or a newspaper, where as a subsription will save them many dollars.

Bramble, here are a few companies who sell subscriptions to GYO. they all seem to charge different prices. There were more on Goggle as well that you could check out.
        http://www.magazine-group.co.uk/magazines.php?id=523
        http://www.isubscribe.co.uk/title_info.cfm?prodID=4061
http://www.magazinesforall.co.uk/mag...Your+Own&id=46 some quote European prices others don't seem to. One group asks people to contact them to ask for a quote if a magazine is not shown as available. I know that some readers in the outer Scottish Isles get a little miffed to say the least when looking at various seed and equipment suppliers to find that they only supply the mainland for the prices of P&P quoted. Other than shopping round I don't quite know what to advise.
        Sorry Jax

Bramble, sorry the mag is so expensive for you in Ireland, but the Forum is free and just as useful. Welcome to us and hope you find all the help you are looking for. Happy gardening.

Bramble you don't need to read the magazine to take part in discussions on this forum. Just bring yourself!!

                  Hi Bramble,

Unfortunately the cover price in Eire is set by the Irish Wholesalers who traditionally price all UK magazines significantly higher due to taxation. We get paid on the normal uk price in sterling, so we are not making anything extra on this price. There's not a lot we can do about this, however Neil is working on a special subs price for you so we'll get you reading somehow.

                    Hi Bramble,

Thank you for your emails. The price to Eire is in fact £59.95. Ireland is classsed as Europe, consequently we have to charge accordingly. However since we have quite a number of Irish readers interested in our magazine, I will introduce a special price of £49.95. This will be in the next issue of GYO and on the web site once it is updated.

I hope this is fair and that you take out a subscription to our magazine.

The PTB are good eggs. Now folk in Eire can enjoy GYO too, at lower prices.

What a helpful bunch you are sorting out a subscription for Bramble but I wonder will our Irish grapes, should they wish to, be able to take up the magazine and web site special offers?
