  • Do you lose the meaning of words?

I don't know why but if I read a word too many times, I tend to lose the meaning of it. Today I have typed the word "though" several times & lost the meaning of it, so much so that I had to google it to see if there was such a word & had I spelt it correctly........Do I need help?.......

Maybe we've both lost it. Where's VC when you need her?

Yes, I tend to keep writing 'though' instead of although, and only write although at the beginning of a sentence.
A small irritation is when people write 'loose' when they mean 'lose' - Loose wellies, but lose the plot. Hope nobody will of course.

Wossat RL? I got lost..........looking for "it".
I used to be good at spelling, in school (she says modestly) but now, a combination of fumble fingers on the keyboard and spellchecker has made me very brain-lazy. So, for example, I've just misspelt "School" twice and have serious doubts about "misspelt" as it just doesn't look right - should it be misspelled or mispelt. Other words that always seem wrong are "wrong", "people" and "yacht" (not that I write that often).
So neither of you are alone - may I join the club please?

Try coping with a mixed education - I was educated in an American school in Holland, various schools in England but finished my education in Scotland!

Thirty years later I'm still fighting Americanisms.......sheesh!

I spell very well, so I'm frequently asked, by the family, how to spell words. Quite often I get confused, having spelled a word out loud, and I'm convinced I've misspelled it when I haven't. Sometimes, seeing things written down or hearing them said or spelled out throws me out. It either looks wrong or sounds wrong but, in actuality, it isn't.

              Too weird.

How come you said in one sentance what it took me a whole paragraph to say?............
