Do you lose the meaning of words?

Seems to me that with all the weather, we are all suffering water on the brain,and this is causing short term memory loss...
Doctor gave me some pills to aid my memory, but i forget where i put them.

I recone you all know i cannot spell half the time,but get one of those scrips,where all letters are jumbled,barring the first and last,and i can read it just fine,also when were speed chatting on here,all sorts can come up,

I never have a problem with your messages Lottie because you spell a word as it sounds - makes a lot more sense than some of these silly words that look the same on paper but are said so differently - like:- though, thought, through, trough, tough. Ridiculous!!
That's one good thing about the Welsh Language, once you've learned how to pronounce each letter, its always said the same way, whatever word its in.

This phenomenon is caused by a process of inhibition in the neural cortex. As the visual cortex repeatedly meets with the same stimuli, both it and those parts of the brain such as Wernicke's Area responsible for recognising symbols and translating them into meaningful information stop being able to do so. This is because when a nerve pathway rapidly and repeatedly receives identical stimuli, it loses sensitivity to that stimuli so that the brain may concentrate on fresh messages from the senses. This is why we stop noticing horrible smells and can "tune out" annoying noises.
The reason that we find some words look wrong is generally that we subconsciously notice when words do not follow the normal rules of spelling, or are uneasy when we are unsure of the exact rule to follow when writing a word.

I may be the only speed-reading dyslexic in the world - quite by accident I learned to proof-read by reading an entire word or phrase at a time - but I find that when I am mis-reading a word, the first time I read it I get the feeling that something is wrong: I look again, and it looks exactly the same: but the third time, it magically unjumbles (I actually see it change !) and becomes the "real" word that is actually there. Very weird...
Like lottie dolly, I have very little problem reading "jumbled up" writing, I reckon the part of the brain that does unjumbling is just superb from all the practice.
