Did any of you see this programme last night. Those poor calves, but as they said what was the incentive for the farmers to raise the ' male calves'.
What a great shame our farming has got to this state....
It would be a great shame to see our dairy and beef farms decline and have to rely on imports.
As they said we do not know how the cattle are raised and cared for abroad.

It certainly gave me food for thought

I made a point of watching it, and even recorded it!

It didn't tell me much new, except i didn't realise that dairy cows were cross bred and now unsuitable for meat production.

I'm really glad that normal country people were interviewed, rather than the figureheads of larger hunts which is what the CA normally do.

The state of UK agriculture makes me very sad - i deal with the horticultural (veg & fruit) side of things every day and these farmers have to deal with the SFP and the rest of the paperwork too, its a nightmare and the supermarkets have a lot to answer for
There's vegetable growing in the family, but I must be adopted
    Happy Gardening!
