  • It must be a mistake, surely?

T****s own evaporated milk increased in price in one week from 48p to 79p. I thought it must be a mistake, but the Carnation has gone up about 30 as well. What's going on? Wanders off to e-mail T****.

It's usually about 48 - 50p in Aldi or Lidl.

We use it to make frothy hot chocolate.

I have to ask, what do you all use it for? (apart from frothy hot chocolate). It was something for jelly and tinned fruit when I was a nipper and I haven't had any since then

Yep, I don't use it either VC after having it forced on me as a child with mandarin/clementine segment flan...pook!
Real milk in hot chocolate is probably cheaper. Think I'll stick with that.
For those that do like it, I have seen it in three tins for £1 in pound shops.

We can't have milk any more - too many carbs for a diabetic. It's better to use a little bit of evap than a whole mug of ordinary milk. And unsweetened cocoa instead of drinking chocolate.

My Ma doesn't like ordinary milk so she has watered down evap on her cereal. Now that is revolting....eeyuck.

Ah I understand now. Although news story today declares true dairy is healthier for you than all these "mocked up" healthy fats. Always been butter, cream and full fat milk for me.
