How very sad to hear that the nurse who took the royal hoax call has died........lost for words really.

I don't suppose anyone from 'Human Resources' took her to one side and provided support. No doupt she thought she was for the high jump. I hope the Aussies are feeling humbled.
Such a terrible waste of a good life - because of some idiots who thought they were so clever. I hope they never need nursing care. The press must take some responsibility for it too by splashing the hoax story around. They are all guilty.
I can't see the point in portioning any blame. The hospital will have had strict policies in place regarding celebrity patients. I would assume that a media representative would have been appointed. The nurse has obviously mistakenly breeched the process, maybe been disciplined, maybe taken a lot of stick from colleagues....who knows. It's the kids I feel sorry for.

If the BBC report is to be believed, this nurse merely answered the telephone, gave no medical information and passed the call to another nurse. Totally innocent of anything. So so sad.
I heard on the news on the car radio earlier that she was receiving support from the hospital but clearly this poor woman has been unable to cope with the fallout from this stupid prank. Who knows how any of us would have coped with the pressure in a similar situation?
I don't know if this particular hospital has a switchboard but if it does, how the heck did it get past them?

This is from the BBC report:-
.....a duty nurse ......, answered the telephone because it was 05:30 GMT and there was no receptionist on duty."
I agree with you BM, there must have been a switchboard and, given the importance of the patient, some protocol on taking calls. Failings all round perhaps?
I still think it comes down to morals at the end of the day, or lack of them in this case. If they hadn't called then the hospital wouldn't have had to deflect their time and attention away from sick people and genuine relative concern to take these two idiots on. The buck stops with them. Two children will forever have Christmas ruined, let alone the other family members. It was never a funny thing to do in the first instance. It was a cheap shot at the monarchy, whatever you think of them.

Although I fully agree with what you say, Prince Charles saw the funny side of it.

It was 5:30 in the morning so no receptionist on duty. Poor lady, so sad for her family especially her two children.
I'm not talking about ward receptionist Wendy, I was thinking hospital switchboard. Obviously Private & NHS hospitals run in different ways.
