I've been wondering what to do with leftover seeds that I don't have room for. I was hoping to donate them to a good cause but can't find anywhere, it's not as easy as I thought it would be. I've tried googling 'donate seeds' but didn't have any luck with that, I saw the thread for donating seeds to Hansmum but there is already quite a few offers on there and I would prefer to donate them to a charity or school etc. Does anyone have any advice on how to go about this? Sorry if this shouldn't have been posted in here, I've searched the site and couldn't find anywhere it fitted in. Thanks

Hi moopmoop - (love the name and Avatar!) Do you want to swap them for something else in the Virtual; Seed Parcel (VSP) http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...nce_68032.html
Earlier this year Forum members suggested suitable organisations to donate the excess seeds to, and held a poll to decide who should receive them. The same thing may happen again next year! Let me know if you're interested in swapping
Found the link to the Poll http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...use_63152.htmlLast edited by veggiechicken; 08-12-2012, 09:59 PM.

Sounds good, count me in.
Thanks for the kind reply,
My grandad used to call me Melanie moopmoop when I was very young and the name has stuck ever since, the Avatar is a real photograph I took at Edinburgh Zoo last year. I love the evil Penguin look.
Yes I am interested in swapping as long as that is allowed, I was reading the rules for the seed swap and it said that if you had less than 50 posts then users were advised against trading with us. It's great the you donate the leftover seeds, hopefully you will do the same this year.
I shall wait until tomorrow to sort out the spare seeds, I find alcohol and seeds don't mix very well.Remember it's just a bad day, not a bad life 😁

I think the 50 post rule applies if you are asking for seeds, in your case I don't think it matters as you are looking to offload.sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

I've just remembered that this year I answered an ad on freecycle to someone who was asking for free seeds. I think it was ok to answer an ad that was asking for seeds but don't think I'd want to post an ad offering seeds. There's some strange people out there, I'd be worried that they would just get the seeds and not bother to use them, at least the lad that was asking for them had more chance of using them. That's my reasoning anyhow.Remember it's just a bad day, not a bad life 😁

I asked for unwanted flower seeds on Freecycle one year as I wanted to scatter them randomly under some apple trees. A lady living locally offered to put some through my letter box and when I came home that day, I could hardly open the door. She must have posted the entire contents of a £1 shops' old seed stock. Not just flowers but veggies too. I threw the broad beans into the raspberry patch and had the best crop of beans ever I probably still have some of these seeds
