Your most loved Xmas decorations????

I'm unpacking my decorations and so many have lovely memories.
I just wondered if you have any which you would be really sad to part with?

One of mine are a group of 4 metal Santas about 3" high. Each holds a letter N O E L ...
They have pride of place next to our open fire. Each time I and my OH pass by and look at them, we change their positions- and spelling. Sometimes they are piggie back, sometimes upsidedown....all changes bring a grin to our faces.

Another is a wobbly metal penguin which I have given to my son. Each time we walked past it we'd give it a tap and it'd wobble about for a minute or so.
Daft I know- but part of the 'joy' of Xmas for me! I was thrilled to see it had pride of place this Xmas when we went to visit him!

When I gave away all our decorations a few years ago, I kept back 2 metal ones which still get trotted out to sit on the mantelpiece. One is a Santa in a sleigh and the other an angel with a string of bells between her hands. Like your wobbly penguin, Nicos, she is on a spring, so when you tap her she sways from side to side and jingles her bells! I've recently bought some glass stars, made by a local, but they'll hang in the window all year round

I've got a tree top angel with gold wings and crown!
She's a bit tatty and needs a new dress but she has to stay, cos she was brought for me by Greek friends and reminds me of them, and happy times, whenever I look at her

In my previous life, when I had a job, and money, I bought some crystal icicles and stars to hang on the tree, and some delicate glass baubles. I also have some old-fashioned tree ornaments that I'm quite fond of, too. They're Santas and Penguins, made of resin, but very cute. All these are in a box 'somewhere' in one of our five sheds!

My angels that I started collecting each year going back to before I had children. I always waited for the sale and only ever allowed myself six each year. I have enough to decorate a while tree now, but each year there got to be more and more. I hope they get looked after when I'm gone.

Icicles. The first ones I bought were back in 1999 when everything was silver or metallic for the Millennium. These are clear with an irridescent sheen. They were in tubes of twenty and I bought about six tubes back then. Since then I've amassed about 600. They go with everything and will probably be the thing my children fight over when I've popped it. This is the livingroom. The hallway is also full of them but I haven't a photo of that yet.

They have quite a few of those at the Birmingham Christmas German Market, I have one too. They are delightful.
I have seen a German market in Toulouse but don't know if you get them elsewhere.

The German market ones have some wooden ones - laser cut - and different designs. Little houses, reindeers, etc.

Thats what I was going to say!! I remember them really clearly at my Grans, so I was delighted when I saw them for sale!
I also have some cake toppers that were my Grans.
I used to have a little Murano glass xmas tree that I bought in Murano, it was SOO cute, but oh so delicate!

I kept all the little bits that were broken off...how sad is that??!!

When we moved out of the family home an had own own Christmases, mum gave us some of the old family ornaments for our trees. They're scruffy as anything and have lost most of their paint but must date back to at least the 1930s and take pride of place on the tree every year. Our tree is a right mish mash of things we've got over the years and I'd not have it any other way, there was a horrible programme on the TV the other day which seemed to advocate getting different designs every year depending on what was fashionable. No soul or heart but all about appearance.

The fairy on the tree. She is as old as me or older. Plastic white come with a net dress and a dolly face. Has wings and a wand that has had the top snapped off. Plastic cone is sellotaped and keeps her from disintegrating. She has always been the fairy and never an angel. Don't know why!

And this year, mama h has knitted a snowman.

I've got a few pine cones and egg box decorations we made with our children over 30years ago a couple of them always make it onto the tree.
