    We offered to buy the field off you you plonka as there are so few ancient pear orchards left in the area.
    4x the value of the field was NOT a reasonable request for the field.

    If you need firewood- go and chop down something else on your hundreds of hectares of land.

    Were they still healthy? Pears only have a limited life span, or so I'm led to believe. Still a shame, though.

    • Oh, and, whilst I'm here;

      Thanks for saving that big stack of egg boxes for me, I do appreciate it. However, in future, could I have fewer, and more frequently, as your storage, erm, 'space' leaves a lot to be desired. I just had to burn around a third of them, due to the filth, and another 'wad' of them that contained a nest of dead baby mice.

      Eeeew!

              Floor boards - rotten, stupid plastic panelling - hiding tiles and damp and, AND! They've obviously been of the opinion that silicone cures all! See a hole, bit silicone will fix that, drip into kitchen below, er, silicone? Screw holes from old shower, maybe a bit of filler and sanded back? Nope, silicone....

                      • Our local library has just had a major refurb. It opened last Monday, so we went for a look see today. Where are the books? The assistant says they are redundant. I must have stood there gaping. I'm still agape. No books, only in the children's story corner and you can't remove them from the library.

                        What is all that about? No books? That's not progress.

                        • So Monsieur le van driver, having discovered that your bald summer tyres don't grip well enough to park in the snowy carpark, perhaps you'll pause to think before overtaking on a blind corner on the way back down the snowy mountain road?

                                Ha! Yes! That's another thing....We love books - we have about 2000 in our house. But we also both have android tablets that we read on too. So we've signed up to the NSC Electronic Library Service. The BH has spent most of this afternoon trying to get the piece of Adobe software to work. The library people couldn't even sort it out.
