  • I hate computers.

We have two in the office - my colleague's freezes randomly every couple of days (but was sat on the computer wallah's workshop for a week without a single problem); and the one I use 'loses' Outlook every now and again, so I have to put the disc in to repair (and do a full Kaspersky scan just to make sure that the Outlook problem is not caused by a gremlin in the works).

This takes all stinkin' day. It is 10 to 4, and I've been trying to sort this out since I came in from a meeting at 10.15 this morning.

      • Wetherspoons. You promote yourselves as a safe, civilised place and have a designated family area, so don't be too shocked that I am slightly miffed that I, a woman without another adult and my vulnerable disabled son were turned away from one of your pubs IN THE MIDDLE OF A SNOWSTORM, just because it was ten past six and apparently, that is when you stop serving drinks to anyone with a child.

That is of course your preogative but either a) make that clear (a little sign on the door, or a note on a menu would have been fine, I'd have seen that before and known I'd have to look elsewhere for shelter) or b) allow your staff a little discretion. I hardly think I look the type to down ten pints of lager and allow my kid to run riot.

And yes, I have made a formal complaint.
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

                • And horsemeat, ASDA has now confessed to it too. Only the tip of the iceberg, you know there is just so much more to come. Can't imagine myself ever going veggie but at least chicken is chicken, or so we think.

                  • Chicken? My rant is about the rooster! And that d@mn dog - come home from a busy week, walking up calling out to the horses, the kelpies, next thing hear a chook call, bluddy mutt is off and chasing the rooster again. Must have slipped between daughters legs when she came thru the door, because she didin't let him out. And that's the trouble because he's worse when he slips out, and you don't know he's out there.

Whinging in the bathroom now, because I'm really mad!

There will be a small dog tether somewhere for him by the end of the weekend and he will be allowed off when we have time to watch his every move, or when the chooks are in for the night.

So sorry for Frank, he's always getting chased because he stands up front of the girls. He's a good boy.

                          • The ebay seller who sent me a Petite pattern instead of a standard size dressmaking pattern. The only difference is a tiny 'P' in the corner of the envelope, which I didn't notice. I've never bought a petite pattern, I've never had to notice. It was up to the seller (business, not personal) to notice what pattern they were sending out.

On all dress patterns there is a line to lengthen/shorten pieces to get an exact fit. In 30 years I have never had to alter anything on any make of pattern as I am a standard body length to a tee. A 'T' not a 'P'.

So, now I've cut out over £100 worth of fabric without realising the pattern was petite and the bodice pieces on my dress are all two inches too short.

The seller is willing to send out the right pattern but isn't concerned about my fabric.

So starts a lengthy process of finding contrast fabric, or matching up fabric prints exactly, to set in a strip to lengthen bodice pieces & lining pieces.

                            MEH. Meh. Meh.

Heel it into a pot of soil or your border - it'll be fine then.

Leaves - I'm still raking the bl**dy things up off my fully planted borders. Don't you lazy people ever tend your gardens before they all blow over mine.
Here's an idea, pay your gardeners more and ask them to get them up for you instead of planting primulas into your garden. By the way what you really should be buying is the native primrose...just a thought!
