  • Thanks VC... we buried her today.. She was a real lady and it was a long day for us all but she would have been happy with the send off..

        • Sorry to hear about your Granny, Trip. But I hope when I'm gone they say I've had a good innings! Nice that people will miss you I think.

I'm not near getting finished this weeks challenge. Can't even work out if it's 5 or 6! But I'm off work now, so I will get it done, I bluddy well will! What was it again?

Thanks Lottie...on both counts..!! I would invite you all to the celebration, but would be afraid VC would turn up with half the regulars of the GR (you included)

                BTW...Nice threads

excuse me? what exacterly are you insinuarting? Are you trying to say we would cause mayhem or otherwise disrupt the party?

I will point out there have been no punchups or fallings out in either the Gr or the Once upon a time threads and we would add to the character of the occasion. Mind you, on hindsight probably not a good idea. Half of those folks are signed up nutters

                  • We excel at disruption though Trip would end up marrying the barmaid

                      • Indeed I am a signed up Nutter myself AP!! Too many nuts in the one room could be fatal, especially as I think one of my invited guests has a nut intolerance
..might have to leave my own wedding

VC...Not the barmaid from the GR tho .......for Shen and AP's sake, that story (nightmare?) needs to run and run

                            Nice one, Trip.

Puts my bad-tempered 'well-at-least-I-got-off-my-lazy-butt-and-ran' 4km in just under half an hour one lunch time this week in perspective!

Under pressure from my athlete bro ('My dicky knee might give out at any moment - I run like an old man. By the way, I did 8k in 40mins yesterday, and that included the local 'cardiac hill'), I've put my name down again for the Great Midlands Fun Run.

                            • Good stuff Hazel... sometimes its hard to get out there and run and others, it's not so bad....

Must be what way the body and or mind is feeling on the day!!
Hopefully I can put 14k down as a challenge for myself in the coming weeks...

                              • Week 6
Still no off piste skiing as the snow keeps falling - 5 meters at the top which is the most snow for thirty years, but the road and resort keep getting closed because the avalanche risk is very high. Maybe next week when its just snow showers..

So this week I've finally got around to pH testing the veg garden.
I sampled one bed from each end of the plot which have had three years work, one from the middle which has only had two years of use/improvement plus a mole hill (!) from the field at the top which is the original soil before the earthworks for building the house. I just used litmus paper and rainwater so it may not be accurate.

And the result? 7.5 to 8 all round.
