Week 7 challenge, have a break from the norm and have something other than a roast for Sunday lunch, challenge complete, homemade chilli was lovely and a nice change. Other half didn't enjoy it as much as me because I made it the Slimming World way, any ideas on how to liven it up a bit for him while it's still good for me?

week 7 home made soup , looking through a cookbook thats been on a shelf untouched for god knows how long a recipe for carrot soup appealed to me so i rustled up the ingriedients and made some , very nice it was too mild curry powder was one of the ingriedients and i must say it gave the soup a supprisingly nice twist . made another today after picking up a large pack of mushrooms reduced in price to 75p so i made a mushroom soup and the crusty bread makes the dishAttached Files

I'm having a couple of weeks off. Too many things to do, and hard to get any done before 10 other things go wrong. So will just coast for a week or two.
Get new job pinned down in writing? That will be the one, until it's done.Ali

Week 7 Challenge
Complete a Quilt
Another hobby of mine, besides gardening, is quilting. I'd spent a year or so admiring the skills of quilters in blog-land (starting with our very own Flummery, I might add) when big sister Helen gave me a roll of different fabrics and a quilting book for Christmas 2010 with the words 'there's no excuse now not to get on with it!'
I started a blog (frankly, so I could ask for help when I got stuck), and since my first project of place mats and a table runner where I learned to find my way around a sewing machine early in 2011, I've completed three full quilts, and three baby play mats.
The forth full quilt has been in the making for twelve months - it was part of a monthly quiltalong day where a number of quilters from around the world worked on a 'mystery quilt' which was put together by quilt designer Sue Abrey.
It's been terrific fun - not least to see how all the other quilters have got on from all corners of the world, showing how they have laid the design out with their choice of fabrics.
But I've fallen behind with the quilt - it was supposed to be done and dusted by Christmas, and I still had some way to go. I'm giving it to my Godmother, who is not well at the moment and does feel the cold, so it's coming along with mum and me when we next go to Bedford to visit in the next couple of weeks.
I have underestimated the amount of work left to complete the project, and the more eagle eyed will spot that actually, I haven't quite finished sewing down the borders, but it's near enough a finish for me, and will be completed fully tomorrow evening, before being washed and labelled and wrapped ready to go.
So week 7 challenge: will be done!

In my grand adventure to improve myself before I hit 40, I'm going to start eating porridge every day and up my teeth brushing to 3 times a day.
oh and start doing press ups on alternate days because skipping is too hard every day. Really! I was walking like a troll last week with the pains in my calves. It's a great workout. Just ask Rocky. Pity I cant remember any of those skipping rhymes.
wadda man eh?
