  • A huuuuge achievement for me this week....

we did our first Vide Grenier ever ( car boot sale)
Unfortunately the 30C ( in the shade) and fact it was Bastille Day with many other events on locally , we still managed to shift quite a lot of stuff.

    • Fab Scarecrow Hazel!

VC, my late Nan had a strap contraction attached to her bathroom wall and floor, that ran across the bath. You sat on it, pressed the button, and it lowered you into the water. No idea what it cost her, but she loved it - we're all bath addicts in my family!

I forgot to report in last week losses again, not great but not too bad. This week is worse, with only one minor loss, but at least there's been no gains! Onward...

Oh, next Monday's measuring will be delayed due to extended weekend away with chums, and I may not want to get the tape measure out anyway!

over the past couple of weeks, Granddad George the Scarecrow has come to life.

I stuffed an old pillowcase with scrunched up newspaper, put a stick through for his arms. I dressed him in a pair of trousers which didn't survive the cut from my wardrobe clearout a couple of weeks ago; and an old sweatshirt donated by the Next-doors.

His head is an old cotton shopper bag, sown into a round and stuffed with newspaper. He's wearing my gardening gloves and wellies - and a flat cap which I found in the drawer, but I can't remember where it came from.

I gave his face a lot of thought (this (above) looking a lot like that episode of Dr Who where Maureen Lipman steals peoples faces, but Domino cat not seeming to mind).

Wool hair, marker pen eyebrows and mouth, cane topper nose, and a bit of Avon's finest blusher, and he's ready to rock.

Challenge completed - I wonder if I'll win!
Hope you win but watch out your neighbours don't call the police to report an old tramp on the site

A friend offered me a bath lift seat for my Mum, but it had no instructions.
So he demonstrated it to me, not in the bath but in the garden,

                  • Well done to everyone but i'm afraid my life has untangled since the grandkids got their summer holidays. Apologies for missing last week and probably the coming week as well but I will join in the coming challenges as soon as I can.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

                    • Today I was challenged by my Wolverhampton/Birmingham friends on the allotment to sample their blue potatoes so my challenge for week 29 is to eat blue potatoes.

I have to say they tasted not unlike normal potatoes but the sight of them was a bit off putting - however, a challenge is a challenge so Week 29 Challenge completed.

I ate most of them before thinking about taking the photos so apologies for that

Nice salad! Mind you, I'd flick all those black olives off the side before I started.

It does look a bit like you're eating a bruise, I must say.

Glad you like them as your Brummie/black country folk will be eating them for years to come when they jus' keep on coming up in that bed - it's really hard to pick them all out as they blend in with the soil.

These black olives were lovely black grapes

I noticed that when he was digging them up - don't think his son is too impressed with them and my friend Jim had to be almost handcuffed/sandbagged into taking some - think I'll say it was a very interesting experience but not one I want to repeat till some years have passed

I must admit I had serious reservations
