  • Week 42 Challenge completed - Buy a new bed
I've been intending to buy a new bed, or at least a new mattress for a couple of years, so this week, I braved the bed store and spent some time trying out various mattresses. Such a ridiculous thing to do in public. How could I get comfy without my bedtime book and mug of cocoa? Why were the other customers so loud, didn't they realise people were trying to sleep And once you've decided that you want a Firm or Extra Firm mattress, why don't all the Firm ones feel the same - some were decidedly floppy
Anyway, the new bed has finally been chosen and will be delivered in a couple of weeks.
    Job done!!

Now to get it up the stairs..
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

      • I hope the delivery men will do that Trip, but they won't remove the old one, unless I offer them tea and flutter my eyelashes......... Don't know how they're going to get the new one in without removing the old one first

          • VC - my challenge for week 42 was to complete the clearance of the quarter plot I borrowed from another plot holder last year to prevent her giving up and to transfer all the strawberries from this plot to my grandkid's plot which is just adjacent.

The bed has been cleared and Strawberry bed is full so challenge 42 completed but if she wants to maintain the arrangement for next year I will fill it with peas and beans

              Week 40 Challenge
              Go Rockpooling

With the light reflecting in the water, it was nearly impossible to take photos of this rocky 6' by 4' world - there was a shoal of fish in the 2' depths, mini clams on the shallow slope, a sea slug which looked like a piece of seaweed marching along the sandy section, and a catfish keeping to the miniature vertical side, darting through the inch high sea grass waving in the ripples.

And my week 40 & 42 Challenges done!
              Hazel,

              I'm impressed

Think you should add poetic language to your next challenge

I was determined not to be beaten this year, though, and headed this morning in the glorious sunshine to one of my favourite woodlands.

Half an hour later, I moved to a less favourite, but more secluded woodland, as I was starting to look like the local loony and was getting some funny looks from the good folk of Sutton who were out in force enjoying the day.
Oh! A fellow leaf catcher! I thought maybe I was the only one And yes, I get funny looks too

                  • But you can do it in private, VC. You've got yer own wood.

                    • Half the fun of catching leaves is doing it in public - like catching snowflakes on your tongue - it has to be seen for the full nutter effect

                        • And the older we get, the harder it is to stand in the cold with our heads tipped back and our tongues out, but the icy tickle of a snowflake melting in your mouth makes the incipient stiff neck worth it - every time

Some might argue that you are fulfilling 9 Challenges there, Shen - but I'm glad to see that you know better and are sticking to the spirit of the 52 Week Challenge of one week/one challenge.

It was this that prevented me earlier in the year from posting three successive weeks with what I'd done when I went away for a single weekend with my big sister - she made me chose which of 'go on a boat', 'visit a stately home', or 'go round a maze' would be that week's nominated challenge. She's harsh, but fair, I think.

Sounds like you have a busy week - and you may well be enjoying a very restful Sunday pottering around the plot after that lot!

You realise that I now have to add the snowflake thing to the Challenge list, don't you!?
