  • Week 6
Went to a Seedy Saturday in Pembrokeshire organised by Real Seeds, swapped all the Moneymaker seeds for something a bit more interesting for the VSP
Met Marchogaeth and went back to her home in the hills for lunch and a nose. Came away laden with rhubarb plants and seedlings. Thank you!!
Met lots of lovely people in a beautiful part of Wales that I haven't visited for many years. I'm a very happy chicken

        • Finished cleaning and tidying the greenhouse. Pots and glass washed all ready for the summer.Cut off all the dead leaves from my 30 pots of strawberry plants and have now brought them into the greenhouse to give them a head start.

            • Week 6

To introduce 2 meat free main meals (that everyone likes) every week into our diet.

Well, I thought this would have been a challenge but it was really easy and we actually done 4 meals.

              Broccoli cheese bake
Chickpea and veg spicy korma style curry
              Veg lasagna
Pasta (with the sauce left over from the lasagna)

Next week's challenge will be a hard one, we're off to Ireland for our Grand Daughter's first birthday and while we have the chance to have a few days away from caring for Dad, the plan is to put our feet up and just enjoy Sarah. Normally when we go over, we insist on giving them a break and try to do as much for them as possible.

              • I challenged myself to spend an hour in the garden sorting a border out this week - whatever the weather. my challenge for the week ahead is to bring awareness to my school about the need to turn lights off and to start recruiting eco warriors for my new club.

                • Week 6 Challenge

                  Complete a jigsaw

I'm undecided about jigsaws - although they are fun to do, I always feel a bit guilty, as if I should be doing something more productive.

At least with other spare time hobbies, when you are reading, or going for a walk, or baking, or knitting, or doing a crossword - or even watching the tele - you get something out the other end, or it is generally good for you in some way.

Jigsaws - well, I mean, once you've spent some hours, over a number of days putting all those little pieces together, all you do is break it all up again! It hardly adds to your life - you might as well have not bothered and just die a bit earlier instead.

But that's a bit harsh, really - I think that there is a place for doing something just for the sake of doing it, it's fairly mindless, but at the end of the day, it's enjoyable, and you do get some sense of satisfaction at the other end.

I wish someone would tell that to my conscience, though, as it points out the pile of ironing or a dozen other things that I 'should' do instead...

                    • Well now that I'm a ninja of water drinking and fruit eating that's my insides sorted out. Time to work on the outside. I need to get a pair of runners and trackies to start running so I've decided to do the next best thing for this week. Skipping. 10 minutes a day and see how that goes. No I'm not ashamed. That's not the reason why I'll be doing it down the side of the house where I cant be seen. I just like it down there.
