  • I'm running out of sync with the weeks now

I think it was week 7 I was in Ireland and my challenge was an EPIC FAIL. Planned to put my feet up for the weekend but instead I didn't stop from the time I got there till the time I left and I wouldn't have had it any other way. I was so happy to help out with my Grand Daughter's 1st birthday party, my Step Daughter put on a fantastic day for all the kids and the adults too. It was great fun.

Since then I've not had a chance to do a challenge but i'm up for it now and this week's is to make wine from fruit T bags. I've read about it over the years and the idea just seemed weird. I love weird and can't wait to try it out

It's taken me about 5 years to get round to making 'fruit tea bag wine', simply because that combination of words sound so unappealing! Glad I'll got the first batch under my belt now because it is very easy, quick and REALLY fruity. Have to sit on my hands for a few months before letting myself loose on it!

      • I've just cleaned my teeth for the last time in Week 9. This week I've retrained my tooth cleaning habits and stopped running the tap each time. I intend this to be a permanent change - from now and for ever more, until my teeth shall all fall out............

          • Well I can still only do weekends on my garden in Cressage so I promise myself this coming weekend I will:
Dig over the three remaining quarter beds in the kitchen garden.
Cart enough compost from the heaps to cover all three of them hopefully allowing the worms to turn it in for me.
Start work on some of the borders in the gardens, clearing leaves and giving a bit of a prod with my fork to let some air into the soil.
Plant some of the veg seeds up in the greenhouse.
Set fire to some more rubbish.
Do some spring pruning, just as a nod to the beginning of spring.
Take some wild garlic from the garden here in Lancashire to plant in the herb bed in Cressage.
Its a whopping list...... wish me luck !!

            • By the end of week 10 I want to be able to touch my toes, for as long as I like, any time I like. My wife can do this but I think she has long arms and short legs. So it's stretches and yoga like stuff to try and get supple and stay supple before everything seizes up permenently

                • Week 10 Challenge
I have a greenhouse kit that has been sitting in my garage looking at me for ages.. I know I won't get it finished this week, but my challenge is to at least get it started!

                    • This week's challenge for me is to do something about the edging of my veg bed. There's so much H/M compost been put on the last few years that the soil level is a good 4 inches above the path and it constantly trickles onto the slabs or gets flicked there by the blackbirds. The brick edging is not enough.

                      I'm thinking decking planks maybe.

                      • This weeks challenge for me will be the same as last week.
Continue to dig out the 3 bamboo plants that seem to have roots that go all the way down to hell.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

                            • I lifted the last of the leeks last week and there was no room in the freezer for them so I canned 10 pints of potato and leek soup.

My challenge this week is to pressure can as much food from the chest freezer as possible, today I'm starting with 3kg of shoulder beef and 3 chickens and what ever stock I get from their carcases. Hoping to defrost the freezer soon.
