    • Having finally finished Week 7's challenge (I think it was 7) I now feel confident enough to get started on my really posh frock for the concert. Not easy-to-work-with-cotton this time, but a shot taffeta in olive/lime. The fraying will be a challenge in itself....

I will probably look like a wee chubby blade of grass

      • Thought i posted my challenge for this week but its nowhere to be found.
Finished painting and decorating two of my bedrooms even though I only started out with the intention of doing one.
This weeks challenge is a big one.
Lift the old floor in the porch, kitchen and conservatory because the new floor is going down early next week.
Empty all the kitchen presses because the new fitted kitchen is arriving next week.
I'm already exhausted from decorating, visiting floor and kitchen showrooms and generally getting myself into a right state about it all but I suppose it will be worth it when its all finished.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Yes it will. My extension & new kitchen seemed to go on forever, and the builders like extended family before I could finally reclaim my house! Played 'hunt the *insert kitchen item here' for far too long. Actually, 'hunt the fridge' was a low point. Cost zillions, and I lived in a constant upheaval and dust. All this whilst running the business from home too.

HOWEVER, do I love every single little thing about my kitchen! Wouldn't swap in for anything. Love it to bits! Worth every single minute of disruption!

          And yours will be too.

          • Week 12 - Tomorrow morning, snow or no snow, I intend to join a works party at the allotment site to examine the boundary fence and repair as necessary also remove all stones, branches etc. from the grass paths to prevent damage to the ride on mower blades. I think some of my old winter hill walking gear will be seeing action for the first time in years.

            • Week 12 completed

A large number of volunteers turned up, although only two of us at 1000. A sunny day but very strong winds.

A considerable amount of work was done including repairs to the boundary fence; the removal of stones and branches from the main grass paths to prevent damage to the mower blades and the pulling back of soil from the surrounding fence to bring it below the chicken wire line to prevent rabbit access.

I nearly never made it as my youngest grandson was taken to the A&E for examination at 2300 and I was looking after 2 other grandsons till their return at 0330. Fortunately he is ok and I was still able to function after a few hours sleep. I may sleep well tonight

              • This week hasn't gone according to plan - weather stopped play I had hoped to clear and replant a central part of the garden - turning into a permaculture/forest garden. So far the apricot, rhubarb, hops and blackcurrants have been planted but there is still some way to go. So half a challenge completed this week

                • Week 12 Challenge

                  Go for a bra fitting

Apparently, You're supposed to replace your bras every six months, because with time and washing they lose their shape and ability to support.

I hang onto mine for not just longer than that (actually, I don't know anyone who does chuck their bras out every six months and replace with new), but for so long that the writing has worn off the labels.

But what really has spurred me into action is that the underwire on a favourite 'everyday' bra has snapped, the upshot being that I have a rather - er - lopsided appearance.

So it's off to Marks & Spencer to get re-measured - after all, I've been buying the same size bras since I was about 16, but that doesn't mean that I've been buying the right size.

The bra fitting service at M&S is by appointment (which I didn't realise), but it was early in the day, and the snow was keeping people away, so there was no problem there.

Over the next half an hour I was measured for size and fitted properly; then was talked through (and tried on) some different styles, and shown what I should look for (and what I should avoid) in terms of my shape and frame.

                  Marvellous! Well done, M&S!

I came away with a rejunenated bra wardrobe, and with the confidence to buy for my size and style next time round.

So, that's week 12 Challenge: done!

Edit to add: That giant white jobby at the front is a sports bra - one look at my reflection in the shop window when out running last week convinced me of the need!

Not bad, even so. I think we'll let you off.

I have a contingency of Challenges for if my current week's one is not do-able for any reason (weather etc). Mind you, it's amazing how do-able they suddenly become when you realise the alternative Challenge is 'clean the windows'!

                        • I keep falling behind. Last week's challenge was to apply for an allotment. This week's challenge is to behave myself over the bank holiday weekend and not go to work hungover
Remember it's just a bad day, not a bad life 😁

Sounds like a challenge for you Shen

I forgot to list my challenge for last week....But it basically was to get off my arriss and get some sowing done!!...The miserable weather had/has robbed me of my "get up and go", so I needed a kick-start...

So I sowed lots of toms and chillies and cucamelons inside and celeriac, carrots, peas, mixed salads, potatoes in the greenhouse...

This week's challenge is to make some further (however limited) progress on building the new greenhouse..

You sure you haven't been cohorting with her from the GR ? That does tend to deplete the get up and go
