    • Jules - I have 6 of my own where I was stupid enough to use them for fitted wardrobes, plus one in the spare room - your post reminded me that I hadn't cleaned them for ........................................ :

      Hazel - Who mentioned windows?

      I'm off to the GR

That kitchen floor is fabulous, love the mosaic too.
Definite lack of fizzy drinks and ketchup in this house, Jules, although I could have soaked them in damson chutney (why did I make so much?). Was going to polish them over with car wax 'cos the silicone prevents them dulling - found that out years ago with horse brasses - one buff with silicone car wax keeps them shiny the whole year, but - none in the house. Bother!

I have a chess match on Tuesday evening which I need to win.

I also have to prepare a 40 minute presentation for Thursday evening's Family History meeting.

If I don't make either of these, which is exceedingly possible, I'll set myself another challenge
VC - Pleased to say my chess game was won which turned out to be important, not only from my personal viewpoint, but from the Team's, as it enabled us to win the match.

A drawn game would have meant the match drawn and a lost game would have meant the match lost.

          Challenge for week 16 completed

Had it gone horribly wrong and it very nearly did, I think I will have the presentation ready in time though it will be a close run thing

          • Congrats on winning Shen I have trouble remembering which piece is the King and which the Queen

            • Thanks - the result was really very close and we were the last game to finish with all the team members hovering over the board and for a short time towards the end, after I had rejected an offer of a draw, it looked like I was gong to lose and I was wishing the draw offer was back on the table

However, all's well that ends well and the win means I retain the title of Best 'A' Team Player for the year's league matches but the draw would have been sufficient for this also.

The Queen being female is the real boss and the King being her male partner relies on her for his wellbeing just like in real life

              • So its nothing to do with the Queen being twice the size of the King?

                Comment

                • In this case size is not important

                  • This weeks challenge for me.......
Entertain my sister while she is staying with me for the next 8 days.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

                    • My greenhouse is finished.. Yay, way to go!! Only a multitude of week's challenges later..
Next challenge is to get it out and secured to the back of the garage... If this bloody wind would bugger off...
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

I think that the easiest thing for you to do here, Trip, is to carefully remove the roof and walls of the garage, thus exposing the greenhouse, without jeopardising all that hard work erecting the structure.

                          Now, there's an idea....

And the rest of my challenges for the year could then be to re-build the garage in another location...
And for the last week, clean the windows..

Sowed seeds of trachycarpus fortunei. I bought five seeds so have sown the first three, after three days soaking. They grow well round here and I'm plannng on having a tropical bit on the edge of the deck, cordylines, bananas, that kind of thing. Although I don't know how long it will take them to reach tree size.
Makes a change from vegetables, anyway!

I can come up with some suggestions if you're struggling, Trip.

We've already covered 'cleaning the windows', but I can also chuck into the mix 'vacuum the car'; 'paint the fence/shed'; 'deep clean the oven; and 'go through the household bills paperwork.

Sorry? What's that you say? Did I hear you say that you actually do have your next week's Challenge lined up, thank you? Good-o.

Do let me know if you need any further help in this matter.
