  • Week 17 - I will help on my daughter's plot and sow peas, beetroot and carrots on my own.

Spent Monday and Tuesday weeding on daughter's plot and today sowing seeds of peas, beetroot and carrots on my own. Put fleece on top as overnight frost is threatened over the next week - more likely to be up north but taking no chances

    • Lovely and neat and tidy!
I wish I could do pictures.
I still haven't managed to sus them out on this new computer because I've not been able to use it while I was away.
I suppose there will be loads of time for me to learn in the coming months.

      • Lynne,

Thanks - pics look better than the plot does in real life and, as for tidy, you should see the state of my clothes after a day spent on the allotment - if I made a daily collection of the soil from the knees of my trousers for a week it would fill a raised bed.

        • Same her Sheneval. There is more soil on the lounge floor from my gardening shoes and my socks than there is in the borders. Must remember to take my shoes off at the door.

            • Challenges for April
Week 14 - Count and list my fruit trees - 36
Week 15 - Sow 13 Varieties of kale
Week 16 - Go to the RHS Show in Cardiff and meet some new Grapes

              Week 17
Not quite the challenge I predicted - instead I built a raised bed from a pallet and some junk without using any nails or screws to hold it together

                  • Week 17 for me.
                    Take a well earned break.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

VC - Like Trip I am running a bit late due to being diverted by a sudden desire to edge the potato bed, thus onions were only put in this afternoon, but to make up for my tardiness I sowed some more pea seeds as well - cabbage was surrounded by net on Tuesday - better not give me lines as I preferred to get the belt at school to get it over with.
