More forests, more forests and yet more forests.. If we had more trees on the hills it might just hold more of the water instead of it pouring down into the valleys faster than can be managed?

News reports have said that 2012 was the second wettest year on record but 2000 was the wettest but I dont recall it being as bad as 2012.Comment

They were on about the other day Steve, did they cal it 'X' rain or something. Anyway a heavy deluge 3/4" in dry areas up 2 1/2" in wet normally falls every 100 days or so. This year it happened on average every 70 days. This means though there is less rain it can be more concentrated.

We finally did the path today - it was our Christmad holiday task but as pics show, we got flooded out at the lottie. Loads of dead worms just lying on the soil; loads of dead slugs too but I'm not worried about those.
Pile that soil high to get some air in it - I think is this spring's motto.
