Or be amazed by the woman and her nails, bunting, scented candles and lack of digging skills that you will slip a stitch or two.

Why does she keeps the scented candle she doesn't like the smell of?

The whole thing was a set up farce, from begging to end,for all the reasons already listed below, them girls did not have a clue how to dig, only flick bits of compost upwards, plus that shed looked very clean,
the program that followed was good, there must have been a blue moon last night,as we usually tucked up well before that time, was worth watching, just to see how the other half live,

I agree with Lottie, the whole thing was a set up. The female narrator's voice got on my nerves and not one of the allotmenteers looked like they were dressed for working on the plot.

Did that "girl" say she used her shed to write? Write what I wonder? Cookery books, detective novels, growing guides? I had to watch it and I did find it amusing.

They had a film crew there. I assumed the girl with the nails was dressed up for them until I saw her shed.

I'm going to watch it again - I missed most of the bits you're all talking about - but I'll fast forward through anything with that Allotment chairman and his wife Janet - they kept on about going to bed all the time - wonder if her bed is full of ugly cuddly toys

Really sets the GYO movement back years in terms of PR.

Might shorten the waiting lists though, as only folk who know that allotments are not full of weirdos will stay on the lists.

I wondered if anyone else would be watching it....what a load of tosh.

Come on how many of us have lost veg to someone sabotaging?, or know of someone who has.

I don't do competitions, or get involved with the committee, but think there would have been far more to the issues with the young lad than he was letting on. He was quite happy to give up his key in order to get out. Had it been me, it would have been over my dead body if the only issues had been those he mentioned.

Where was all the gentle conversation, the swapping for seedlings, the loaning of equipment, the chilling having a cup of tea. Life on my allotment site bears no comparison with any of that at all.

I'm not surprised with the 100,000 waiting list, though I do wonder how many of those genuinely want one and are prepared to make it past the first years hard graft.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.
