When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

Last year at the National Vegetable Society Championships at Malvern, the users of the NVS Forum had a competition for a veggie animal. Mine was a spider with a tattie for the body with long red radishes for legs with small spuds attached for feet and small spuds for eyes on matches for stalks. I put it together in my hotel room and on the way to the show, stopped at reception, showed my spider and said I found it in my bed. Young lass was gob smacked and I've chuckled about it ever since.

On the plus side, just gave myself a mini indian head massage with coconut oil, hair coated in the stuff but I don't care, too chilled.

                    • I'll be in Wales in 2016. . It's not having big onions that counts, it's knowing what to do with them
