I'm on my phone viewing the thread so take you all with me wherever I go
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

It's nice to know I'm just oddly normal, then, and not abnormally odd.

Yup, he sure is VC. He has his phone too so if we post at the same time we may not be together. It's a bit like 2 halves of one brain with us though so we sometimes post the same thing at the same time. Bit like last night with the Alice Cooper comment... lol

I used to collect tortoises - is that irrational? Still have them but most are in "hibernation" in the attic!

I had a thing for small brass bells which also disappeared like the clappers into the loft

I collect bees. In summer I have hundreds of thousands of them...

Trying to count them is not OCD.. it's normal...

Hardly anything in this thread is the slightest bit like OCD.

OCD is not little habits, weird quirks, whatever, and it's certainly not cleanliness or being fussy about things being in order.

OCD is a serious mental health condition that ruins sufferer's lives.

I wouldn't mind so much if it were just that, but saying things like "what did we call these people before we called them OCD, stupid modern world blah blah blah isn't it awful, we all have our little quirks" - yeah, you're right, they didn't call us anything so polite as OCD. And they didn't give us anything we'd recognise as healthcare, you're right again. More like torture and imprisonment.

I have my odd little habits, like everyone does - and I have OCD. They're not the same at all.

"Before OCD became available", honestly - can you tell me where they're doing it, then? I'd like to take it back.

OCD = Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It comes in degrees. You may well suffer from it badly enough to need medical treatment and if that is the case I am sorry. The rest of us are clearly affected much less seriously and we feel able to laugh at ourselves. No slight on you or anyone else was intended. I mean this kindly, now you know the tenor of this thread, if it offends you, don't look at any subsequent posts.
