Rockdust

Hi I've spent a little time reading about Re-Mineralisation of soils and as we have a very heavy clay seam so after a lot of sh@t and leafmould in raised edge beds i'm adding seer rockdust.

got a 20kg bag for £8.64

so thought might aswell give it a go.

has anybody else used it

have you had any good results with particular vegetables

just asking like.............

Yes and I have been impressed by it. You only need to apply it every few years, so it's not even a yearly expense. Out of the two onion beds, one got feed and the other got Rockdust. The fed bed produced much smaller onions than the Rockdusted bed, which had no feed.
Look at photos of the fruit gardens and grow plots around the base of Etna and Vesuvius. That's where I first noticed a difference and thought hmm maybe I will try our UK equivalent and see. I was semi sceptical/semi intrigued. But was surprised at what I saw on onions and a fruit bed.

Not been to those but Hawaii & Madeira are both volcanoes & they are both extremely fertile as well

It's amazing isn't it. I was completely bowled over by how barren the upper slopes are and surrounding lands were parched, but lower slopes and immediately below are so verdant.

So I garden on the Preseli's - extinct (I hope) volcanoes - I don't need to buy it do I? In fact I could sell you some rocks and you could grind them up to make your own.

What's gringing? You are very lucky having your own volcanoes!

Yep,sure is amazing to see so much greenery,keep thinking of sneaking some dirt back in the suitcase,but apparently it's illegal

Oops is it really so if you bring it back in two water bottles for a diorama it doesn't count?!
