Hi i just wandered if anyone knew what fish are about in march/april in the dorest area to fish. Going on hols and me and my partner love fishing. Went in sept and got mackeral, bass and pout whiting all very yummy.

Chisel beach for mackerel. Car park end of buller's way
Good long casts.
Portland freshwater bay lay-by off southwell rd good for bass when rough
Osmington mills. Mills rd park next to phone box near toilets.
Big wrass right side of the bay off beach look at low tide for rocks.
Nice pub smugglers inn .
Durdle door very very long walk late evening when everyone has gone.
Big mullet left handside as you go down close in high tide
Or garfish float off rocks low tide
Course fishing osmington mills pond ask at camp site shop
Warmwell good carp fishing.

I still have nightmares about an elver that I caught in a jam jar in the Taff and brought home as my pet. I can still see it, stiff and grey, staring at me with its dead eyes. I wouldn't accept that it was dead and kept it in the bedroom for a week until my mum took it and flushed it down the loo when I was at school.

I brought a rod and some other bits and bobs last year and couldnt believe how much i enjoyed it (i have no skill at finding fish i wne t for three days when i started and the only thing i caught was a Dead rotten dog fish) but i kept going, glad i did.

another stall holder next to us at a local Farmers market sells shell fish etc caught out of Weymouth harbour
she told me the spring tide last week stopped the shell fish from moving around so harder to catch but the fish were jumping in the boat
herring, pollock, she had some massive bass, brill and turbot all caught just offshore
