I've had a fair few hobbies over the years including painting, sewing, knitting, motorbikes and music festivals. These days I make yogurt, cheese, wine and soap. I bake and cook and do family history (I've yet to confirm it for myself but according to the guy who has written books on my Miller line, I am a direct decendant of King Harold of battle of Hastings fame). I also make herbal tinctures, infused oils and ointments. I do preserves too and love using my new pressure canner

I'd love to start painting again and my Sons bought me some paints and brushes etc a few years ago for xmas and i've just not got around to starting..... that could be another one for the 52 week challenge

      Greedy barstewards.
That's the problem with living in a parallel universe, your barns are not the same as ours. You can get a good sized barn around here for between 100 and 200k.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

There are 2 round the corner from me for sale at the moment Chris, though unfortunately they are in the middle of a working cattle farm, that milks 3 times a day. You'd never get the smell out of your washing...

My other interests are football, reading and politics.

In football I support our local team, Guiseley FC, and much prefer the gentler pastures of non-league footy to the crazy, cash-soaked world of the Premier League.

For reading I like mainly factual books, and don't read all that many novels, although I do like Marina Lewycka, and have read all of her stuff...

In politics I'm pretty much (very much?) on the left, and a member of (am I allowed to say this?) the Labour Party as well as being a member of Republic, which for those to whom we might still be unfamiliar, propose a democratic alternative to the Monarchy.

Apart from all if this, I love to go walking, and my partner and I love nothing more than trekking in our beautiful Yorkshire hills and dales with the world and all its problems left behind in the big cities...

              Hope I sound vaguely 'normal!'...

'Normal' gets a bad press. I quite like it. Within reason.

Pre-children, we liked skiing and surfing. Post-children, we like talking about it... They're 5 and 3 now so this year might be the one we start making plans to actually do it again! Hobbies like cooking, crafts and reading have been shoe-horned in somehow.

We lived near Marina Lewycka a few years ago - she used to lecture at Sheffield Hallam. Haven't tried any of her books yet though!

I can recommend her books, though just thinking of it now, I'd also heartily recommend anything by John O'Farrell who remains my favourite author for humour despite the fact I haven't read him for a little while...Quick trip on to Amazon, methinks!...

I think I really need to start swimming. I reckon people would sponsor me - does this really work?

I may have left it too late to ask the meaning of irksomeness
