Fraid I can't be of much use G4 as house buying doesn't agree with me, bought 2 & gave them both away. I would however like to wish you luck & hope you find a home & not just a house.

I'm still contemplating putting the money into the Business (vehicle/training/advertising) and staying renting. The trouble with that, is that we seem to be incapable of saving (money burns a hole in Mr.G's pocket even quicker than in mine!) and we will then never have a deposit. Damned if ya do, damned if ya don't!

G4- why not set up a deposit account which requires both your signatures to draw from it? Then he can't access it!

There may of course be other much better savings accounts etc where 2 peeps signatures are required which also give you a better investment.
Worth looking into???

Staying renting a while longer would also give you the chance to keep an eye out for the 'ideal' property to buy!

I think the biggest problem with moving at the moment are the mortgage companies. They like high deposits, perfect clientele, and safe properties. If you don't fit that category they are not keen.

We recently tried to buy a grade 2 listed commercial building to convert into a home, you'd swear blind I'd asked them to part the red sea. Plus the rates on those that would consider the 60% LTV were 4-5%, um excuse me isn't the base rate 0.5% at the moment?

Good luck with whatever you chose to do G4, I've no doubt you've already done this but, getting a mortgage in principal is worth doing prior to searching. Saves a lot of disappointment when they all say no later.
