If you got a lawn full of moss the de-thatcher alone makes it worth having a Mantis Beyond that,ALL of the above.

Surely you only need a fine tilth if you're sowing seeds direct . My OH wanted one (boys and their toys) , I showed him the bucket of couch and ht roots I'd pulled out ...........I rest my case.....

A mattock? We use ours loads - I think they're brilliant. Your arms and shoulders do the work then, and not your legs. They make potato trenches a doddle, and we've cleared many an overgrown and gnarly bed using them. This is a bargain Silverline GT52 Digging Hoe: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools.

Don't tend to see many people using mattocks, despite me constantly singing their praises.

I know someone else who does.......

There's a guy at work who has just taken on a lottie , I asked him how it was going and the answer was he was waiting to get it rotovated ......why do people think you can't work a plot without it being rotovated . I hate rotovating nearly as much as weedkiller........
