  • Morning, what a difference a day makes its only 12c in my GH now and its starting to rain.

Jules I've just caught up with your rant can't get over someone burning stuff without even looking what it was.

RS we've also go a slug or two in the kitchen we've tried everything from beer traps to removing the plinths below the cupboards and putting down those horrid blue pellets bought especially for the job. But we're still met by slime trails in the morning.

I'll have a look around the vine then to work of those fish an' chips I ate yesterday.

      • Morning all Gosh I am feeling my age this week so I think a day or two of less exertion will be needed to recover a bit,so today I shall mainly be shredding hedge cuttings & moving donkey poo

        • Afternoon All....greyish, murkyish, sort of chillyish out there. It's trying to rain but it's just playing at it. If'n it's going to rain I really wish it would before this promised heatwave (that I am anticipating hugely) arrives.

A better afternoon than yesterday, although the postie didn't bring any replacement cheques - I was hoping the one would be pretty quick, I know E.on are dragging their heels - the woman I spoke to was almost gleeful yesterday. C*w. Maybe tomorrow....well, I can only hope

          • Hope the mail is good to you soon Jules.

Hope all you achey ones are spritely soon!

My little baby girl and I had an interview for her first job today! bit scary!

She wanted to put in a resume to a cafe, which we did, but a bit pointless as their hours and school hours don't make it worthwhile. Put in another two downtown, then another at a Country Inn. Sent the girl in on her own with resume, as they need to know she can do that at least. She comes out and says the woman wants to talk to me as well. So glad I wore my town clothes and not my Farmies today
So she starts tomorrow morning. 4 days this week and prob 3 next. Not being a first time mum of working teenager I'd said on the resume that she could work two shifts a week and restricted during exam periods. Boss wanted to check out if I'm up for the driving....well yes, but I'm not up for sitting in the carpark for an hour at midnight like Macca's does to you! And school comes first, and if grades slip then the job goes first. LOL - she's an Asian Mum with capital letters, so she knows that.
She will be a very hard boss, but if daughter can cope she will get an awesome grounding in hospitality.. She'll do cleaning/housekeeping, waitressing and maybe if she's good reception. They get a varied clientele. This month Asian, next month school kids doing a snow trip then it can be anything from saudi to canadian and indian.
Fingers x'd. Have told daughter not to get sacked on the first day - not a good look very supportive I am

                    • Good Luck to your daughter Feral. Light rain here too. Disappointed I am, because I've bought a bistro set for the patio. As it's raining we decided to pick it up tomorrow, so I'm hoping it'll be fine enough for me to sit at! Bought some butterfly solar lights for the fence too - and I've put some tubs of flower seedlings under the front window. Ooh, think I'm going a bit girly

                        • You're right Bren, it was ages before I used it, but it's been worth it's weight in gold since then. Gone are the days of lugging heavy watering cans all over the place. I even fill the watering cans from it next to the plants for feeding. Best present I've ever had!

                          • No rain here just cold and grey. Wish it would either rain and water the garden or be sunny so I can go in it. Just horrid out
