  • My children called my Nan, Nanny Boo. Their surname was Bellew but the oldest GGC couldn't say it as a toddler and it came out Boo, so it stuck.

It's clouded over. It's been grey all day and threatening rain, although it hasn't rained yet. The garden needs the rain but I don't.

We were having a really good day today, and then the power company called and upset everyone. Greedy beggars, and stooopid with it. It's time to change, I think. They've had their chance. That really has ruined my day. I'm trying to think of three good things but failing....I can think of one only.

Ice cream.....I need ice cream. Apricot & mango.....should I make chocolate sauce or is that just piggish? I think it's justified this once.

    • Hope he ice cream made you feel better Jules. There were more feathers this morning, but it looked like blackbird plumage, not pigeon. I saw the cat again about 6 this morning across the road from my house. I wondered if maybe it was a stray that was hunting for food as it's so fierce with the birds. Just now, a young woman with a toddler who has recently moved from a few doors down was wandering down the back path with a cat box! Himself found out from her that the cat keeps escaping from her new house and coming back here. She thinks it is in hiding under a garden shed lower down. I said he should have told her when she catches it to put a bell on it's collar!

      • Well the allotment won! Brussels sprouts and curly kale planted out and protected (hopefully) from pigeons.

My little helper came - he loves pouring the water into the holes for the plants

I now have a pan of freshly made dark chocolate ganache only to discover some unforgivable child has eaten my ice cream......forget the Eon Power Rangers, this is REALLY SERIOUS.

                  • Hey all..

Very busy weekend so wasn't on much... Sat morning was eldest daughter's school's final in an inter school contest.. They won..
Then did a bit of gardening before heading off early enough to the greyhound racing for a night out with a bus load of people..
                    Very late night
Sunday involved a recovery period before a bout of insanity made us head of to buy a new barbecue... Which then had to be put together
Eventually got it made up and then had a lovely BBQ...
And then of to the pub last night for a few points of Guinness, of course
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

                          • G'Mooooooooooornin' Peeps - dull and bleugh here again today. We had a sunny evening, yesterday, though, so fingers crossed.

Dog-lodgers went home yesterday, to their owner who was shivering after being in 40 degree temperatures! so wehave a lovely peaceful house once more. Dawg had his brekkie, and is now snoring as he sleeps it off in the middle of our bed.

                            Coffee?

                            • Morning All.....

Rained most of the night, which meant a steady stream of moggies in various stages of moist/damp/wet/wringing wetness arriving on the bed to dry themselves, or just wipe mucky feet on the duvet cover. So bed needs changing now but no sign of drying weather

#1 Son has gone off to work via the PO, clutching my snotty letter. I hope it stirs up a hornets' nest. I've just been online banking and cancelled the direct debit, BH has written to our bank backing up the instructions to cancel said DD in writing. There is a bill due but it isn't as if they aren't going to get the money.......

We have grocery shopping to do today. Deep joy. Must go and get chook pellets and cat food too.

I am determined to get some therapeutic sewing done today. Bought fabric from ebay which was 6" short of the two yards I purchased and it's caused major problems with the back panel of a skirt. I've complained and got my money back, but had to buy another yard of the same fabric to complete the skirt. It's a street map of Paris, with bicycle fabric godets.
