  • Yes - the dogs need to meet each other but Cavvies are very sociable so shouldn't be a problem!
I'm getting a 3rd dog to be a companion for Rosie (the older near-blind dog) as she doesn't have much confidence to walk now but gets distressed if I take Mary for a walk and leave her home alone. So the plan is, the new dog stays with Rosie while I walk Mary, then Mary stays with Rosie while I walk the new one! Hope it works!!

    • What a considerate soul you are. How does rosie cope with the two houses, does it confuse her at all?
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

      • She copes fine - knows exactly where she is and where her food will be at all times!! She just will not walk away from the house. So I have to carry her to the beach where she'll toddle along OK but as soon as we turn round to come back she turns into a greyhound and heads for home. Mary and I need more exercise though so I'm hoping that this new arrangement will work and we'll both shed a few pounds.

Last night's party, when we eventually got there, was a laugh, and we danced till midnight! (Yes, even me in me high heeled boots )

Hubby's gone car-booting (Nutter! ) I'm off to collect new Batties this afternoon, and have just sent an email to a Lady about a rescue doggy chum for my boy.

Today's shaping up to be a better day than yesterday!

                  Coffee?

                        • Paddocks are looking terrible dismal atm - no grass at all. The horses watch our every move and all head to the feeding area if you even look like going out the back. Nobody is scrawny but we are just keeping on top of it atm. Seriously hoping for just a small amount of grass growth with this rain.

The sun came out fleetingly this afternoon at sunset - looked lovely. The wind is off the snow now tho. And the bluddy fire won't start!

Loads of things cooked for lunches for school/work/home this week. And daughter made some red velvet cupcakes, but is taking a few to school for friends.

VC have you thought about a carrybag for rosie? You could cut leg holes in it and sling her over your shoulder when you're not on the beach....would be like doing weights as well, as long as she's not too heavy.

Best of luck to everyone else after new doggies. Saw a dog today at the tip in someone's ute. Looked the spit of our Knic Nac, so I'd say it's a sibling. The face is totally 'OMG I just love the world!' the ears and tail going a mile a minute!

                          • Some Dogs just love life, don't they. Have to say 'dog hunting' through the rescue sites and free ads, can be heartbreaking. I end up in tears every time. In just the one breed, I keep finding adverts for pups of between ten and fifteen weeks needing rehoming as they don't suit the person's lifestyle. It makes me so ruddy cross. I didn't realise that there were so many stupid stupid people out there.

I refused, point blank, to go to rescue centres with my MiL. She was very offended, but I just couldn't go.

                            • Sorry I'm on the red again G4, but thanks for asking

Yes, I came off a local petsite as there are people just trying to unload dogs that are 'not suited' well hello? You had 3 kids and no yard and no time and you got a working dog breed? Had to keep restraining myself from saying 'Are you stupid or what?'
And other people even worse - getting rid of one dog and asking the same day about another on the site.
Can't do it. Nor the big rspca sites. Can't bear those eyes as you walk up and then away. At least the dogs at the animal welfare looked happy. I find it hard to cope with the sheer volume of dogs who exist and have no life. But yes, saw some other happy dogs this evening in a car at aldi. One big border collie, looking very 'over it' and a small bright eyed red kelpie pup.

Need to put away the cooking for school lunches so we can let our dogs in - totally unloved they are! Well that's what they think when they're not allowed in to sit on the lounge!
