  • Mornin all!

Slept like a baby last night- but been awake since 5am- listening either to a fox barking or a deer calling- both sound pretty similar to me!

..and so at 6am, having been thinking about what I need to do before it gets too hot, I got up and cleaned the windows!
Just about to set to with the bathrooms and then I can feel chuffed with meself!

OH has already hoed the smaller potager.

Think I may need a siesta later!!!

      • Morning All. Warm, sunny but hazy here this morning. I think the haze will soon burn off.

Nicos, the OH and I were laying in bed listening to the exact same noises in the early hours this morning. We couldn't work out which animal it was.

        • Dear Grapes, I have some sad news to share with you and I know I can rely on you for support at this upsetting time. My male friend, who has been sharing my shower for the last week is no more of this world. He was such good company - I could talk to him and tell him my plans for the day although I'm not sure that he really understood me.
Most days I'd have to help him back onto his feet - whether it was the water pressure or the heat, I don't know, but he usually ended up on his back, his legs and arms waving around helplessly.
He had such long arms and legs - it was amazing what he could do with them but yesterday's exertions must have been too much for him. This morning I found him, his arms and legs wrapped tightly around his body, curled up in the bath.
RIP my Friend, it has been a pleasure to have known you even though our time together was too short. Sleep Well, Daddy Long Legs

          • Morning All.......glorious again. ***Deeply happy sigh***

Off to see the cranial chap in Bristle inna minute, then straight to Bath for the Rheumatics. They're both doing thorough proddings and pokings today, so I expect we'll be all day.

Just picked a big bowl of raspberries, cherries, strawberries and alpine strawberries. Cherries are rather tart, but the rasps & strawbs didn't make it to the kitchen.....

Have a good 'un, see you later!

                    • Thank you Nicos - how thoughtful I'm still waiting for the undertaker to remove him from the bath - could be a while

                        • Looks like a whole boatload of Daddylonglegs going up in flames
His memory lingers on - in the cobweb in the corner of the bathroom
In some ways his passing is a relief - the daily challenge of removing him to a place of safety, and worrying whether the soggy tangled mass of legs would have dried out by the next day was very stressful

So a couple of weeks later than intended, work has commenced on my anti-ratty tunnel today.

Dismantling the existing structure was a lot harder than I expected, a lot of stuck screws that no amount of WD-40 would liberate! So a lot of action for my sharp mate Stanley, my hand axe and my...
