It's my opinion that our gov't is too comfortably sat in the pockets of the big companies that make this stuff to ban the chemical nasties unless they're forced to by the EU. Which is one of the reasons why they want out.

Just a few views from the world of gardening - I hope they don't mind.
This weeks newsletter is going to be a rant about Neonicotinoid insecticides and the fact that the Environment Minister, MP Owen Paterson, in the UK has decided to ignore the European Parliament and the evidence base and will allow them to be used in the UK.
This is the same minister who late last year added his support to GM crops being used more widely in the UK. I only mention this because the company at the centre of both of these travesties of justice is Bayer Cropsciences, and they will benefit from both of these decisions, hugly.
It would seem I am mistaken in thinking that MPs are voted into parliament to act as a representative for the general public and when the general public have concerns about a subject it would be wise for the MPs to take note. So when 340,000 people signed this petition http://www.change.org/en-GB/petition...ids-pesticides and 2.5 million have signed this petition http://www.avaaz.org/en/hours_to_sav...ees/?slideshow maybe it would be a good idea to take note of the public.
So ignoring my paranoia regarding what would seem to me as being an MP in the pocket of the Chemical companies I would urge everyone to sign one or the other petitions if you have not already done so. Bees before Business!
