  • self watering flower bucket made

    Hi all,

Here is my attempt at a self watering flower bucket.

The inner flower bucket is actually a few inches shorter than the outer bucket, so it fitted in nicely, with a good few inches of a gap between the two.

I will line the bottom with a piece of taram, shown in pic. Including stuffing it into the wick basket (plastic pot with holes in).

My theory is that this will stop unwanted potting mix going into the reservoir.

My only concern, is that the bottom of the inner flower bucket, is now reasonably flimsy with all those holes in it

I got loads of buckets from Asda yesterday and was wondering how to do this! The shorter buckets is the answer.........thanks CG!

yep, a smaller bucket drops in real snug.

The reservoir holds just over 1.5L of water.

The trick is to drill the drainage hole (on the side), as high as possible, but still 15mm or so beneath the bottom of the inner bucket.
