        • Now I am 65 I love to read the obituaries and get a small glow of satisfaction when I read of people I disliked who have died younger than me. i run to my wife and proudly exclaim "Ha I beat that miserable old bugger"

          • But they died?! And they were someone's loved ones, if not yours.....

This morning we have, at long last, received an apology from a power company who took many, many, months to send us the money they owed us.

I cant imagine the people I am talking about having had loved ones, besides I like being mean sprited occasionaly. Death is a subject I prefer to tackle with large amounts of humour, the alternative is too depressing.
I have left instructions for my funeral, that is to have a chipboard coffin (preferably home made) Hire a white van to carry it, and then have a bloody good party. I object to paying £3000 plus for a simple disposal job.
My wife has requested that I buy a large rocket, open up the top and place some of her ashes inside, it is then to be let off by St Michals mount in Cornwall I will request the same, I cant think of a more beautiful place to be spread.

              • I don't know if I'm happy or sad!

We released our female hedgehog last night and she wasn't in her nest this morning.Yes- we'll keep on leaving out some food and water, but after 17 weeks in our care, we have a huge gap!

Roitelet has taken her the brother to bring on and then release in her locality.

So- on reflection I am very happy we brought on 2 five week old babby hedgehogs to full weight and able to release them

What makes me smile all the more is that binley and her daughter were involved in their care at the very beginning ( 2 hrly feeding is hard work!!!) and another grape is involved with them at the end.

Don't ya just love this place??

I understand what you mean - they might've been horrible...but still, someone loved them. You're very wise leaving a funeral plan and dealing with death with humour.

Nicos, here's where your 20c days are going to be handy - your hedge pig will have a better chance to get ready for hibernation whilst the days are warm!

                        • Possibly should be a rant, but was funny afterwards -

At the moment I have to wear a not very fetching pair of patella stabilising knee braces in bed. At some point last night I woke up with cramp in my instep and struggled out of bed to try and stop it. I was really worried as I seemed to have lost all control of my legs and could only shuffle around. It was only when I made it to the bathoom and turned on the light I discovered that the velcro strap from one brace had come undone and stuck itself firmly to the other brace, effectively bolting my legs together at the knee Yes, I was half asleep

                            • Plastered a ceiling yesterday. First foray into the world of plastering. Got more on me and the floor, but, it is still on today and it is flat.

My son saw me working and was caught by mummy in the act of applying yoghurt to a door frame. Oops. I suppose it did look like chocolate mousse.

                              • Happiness is - being reminded by a neighbour of the "incident" with the picture!!
I'd asked him to hang some pictures for me and showed him my favourite. It was a blue box frame filled with bright pink dried flowers. I held it up to various bits of wall and asked him his opinion on where it looked best and I could see him biting his tongue trying not to comment on my choice of picture.
Then I handed him the picture, making sure that he had difficulty holding it, and, as he took it, one of the dried flowers fell off inside the frame and landed in a heap. He was so embarrassed that he had damaged my "favourite picture" and I tried to be brave and not look upset. Eventually, it was too much for me and tears rolled down my cheeks and I clutched my sides laughing. It really is the most hideous picture imaginable.
We've both been "crying" about it again today.
.........and then we talked about the bent hammer and the broken loppers..........
                                My sides are aching
