  • Good neighbours
    He'll sort out my car tyres;
    Gave me some newlaid chook eggs
    Will cut down my bay tree and Red Robin shrubs with his chain saw;
    Split some of my logs on his log splitter
    and, today, moved his log pile that was leaning against our joint fence and pushing it down. Work stopped when he found a nest with 5 eggs in it. We both agreed that a collapsing fence could wait until the babies hatch - just hope they come back

    I declined the offer of a lick of his ice-lolly though

    • What a fab neighbour. I'd need to head to the rant thread if I started listing the things my selfish neighbour does

      Tonight's happiness for me is the couch and a blanket. I'm due to head out soon and I'm soooo comfy, I don't want to

                • Working in my veggie garden yesterday I heard a lot of angry tweeting. I turned to see lots of bluetits arguing with each other. Then I saw three of them going into different birdboxes. I was delighted! We have a sparrow village which my husband made a few years ago, we stuck it on the end of our house in the hopes the sparrows would move in, but instead we've bluetits! We have a little community of sparrows too but I haven't found out where they nest yet.

                        Discovering that one row of potato shoots has made it to the surface, and seeing four asparagus shoots that should be ready for cutting in a day or three.

                          • Seeing the faces of chums at the Stables, when I walked out of the Hay Barn, holding a dead Roland, by the tail, and asked if anyone had bread for a sarnie, as I had some meat filling for it!

                            Yes, I did wash my hands after I flung it on the muck heap.
