              • My Mum being able to see without glasses for the first time since she was 9 - 84 years ago She's so excited - says its the best thing that's happened to her for years
She couldn't stop beaming - telling me all the things that she could see - like the fuchsia flowers at the far end of the path. She can even read the crossword clues without specs.
I'm so very very happy for her

However.... today took her for the regular annual diabetic eye check-up at the hospital, and a gorgeous young consultant, (whose last name was full of consonants, but whose first name was Vasily), cheerfully said she could have the other cataract done if she wanted, and there and then put her on the list. I could have kissed the man!

                              • After having my plot burgled last weekend and feeling pretty down as a result got a big boost yesterday when my peas won second place at the NVS Scottish Branch Championships at Dundee. My better half won the peas in the amateur section in the Dundee side of the show as well just to keep up with me. I also won the two quality marrows in the Dundee side of the show so all in all a good pick me up day. It was also a good day for meeting up with friends from the NVS I haven't seen for a while one of whom has come through a pretty serious illness. Happy chappie then today and it's pouring down with rain.
