I will do - funny how things change - I remember coming down a hill taking a sharp bed in frosty weather and bike going one way as I went the other - I ended up about 4 inches from the kerb - no helmet in those days and with a large circle of skin taken off my hip - got back on bike and apart from a grimace or two never gave it another thought - now I watch the three of them like a hawk and walk back with the youngest whenever he comes round - must be getting old

                    • Put the sewing machine away back in the cupboard in disgust a couple of weeks ago 'cos I thought I'd broken it stitching up a hole in my (very thick) hessian shopping bag. Just got it out to have a good look at it and found that the thingy you untwist so you can wind a bobbin had come loose, hence the needle not going up and down - so - not broken at all! Great joy!

Also, thought my electric toothbrush had finally died as it was not recharging, but today found that the plug was almost out of the socket. I'm a numpty and the toothbrush works

                      • Oh! Perish the thought of being without a sewing machine Glad your's is fixed MH!!

                        Minor joys.....

A nice supper, shared with the BH and two out of three Boys. Conversation, over ham, strangled eggs, cocktail sausages and an odd mix of 'shrooms, toms and olives, ranged from Compton Mackenzie's 'Whisky Galore' to Thor Heyerdahl's Kontiki Expedition.

I am, indeed, that horrifically smug mother who's boys are just fabulously wonderful

PS I also found a hugely expensive bottle of white wine in the larder - a perfect way to wash down supper! I've just texted the cousin who left it to tell him, the reply was "FPMSL!!!"
