      It's been a sh!te few weeks, and a really dire weekend, so we're not entirely sober, or sensible.

                • my African Grey's just asked to be put to bed, a bit earlier than usual ~ the nights are drawing in

                  Around dusk she always says "Kali go bed, tired" but before I cover her cage she demands "wanna peanut !"

                  They don't just "parrot" what you say, they understand what they're saying (a lot of the time). She also says "see ya, bye" when someone puts their coat on, or when she thinks they should be putting their coat on

                    What makes me happy is an evening 'walking the crops' at the Hill. I love my generous french beans (technically TS's french beans, some generations ago - thank you).



                    And I love this time of year.



                    The sweet peas are about half of what I picked tonight - the other half went to the Patti Next-Door - she said once that she loved sweet peas as they were her mother's favourite - so if ever I have any, I make sure I let her have a few. And that makes me happy too.
