Minor Rant Thread - Part 8

Nor me.


I have just been out like a pillock to listen to my bees with a stethoscope (you have to love ebay for insanely cheap stuff!) and I can't hear them. I don't know if it's because I can only hear the drilling going on in the flats, or the whining noise over the canal, or the SNOW bucketing down in chunks big enough to cover my hand almost.

It's like a blizzard out there. Might try again this evening when perhaps things will be quieter outside.

Left the dahlia and chocolate cosmos plants outside overnight for the first time last night (they are in pots and have overwintered in my study).
Nothing but slimy trails now.

Oh and the cabbages that didn't do very well have now been eaten by the pigeons. Just stalks left. I did think about picking some the other day but thought I'd leave it a day and apparently the pigeons beat me to it. But had needed to take the net off.

My Rant: My lovely Husband. He forgot he told me he was calling back in this morning, so didn't realise I was worrying. He also forgot to arrange with his mate to get my car done. Bless!

Naw ......you guys are good . This is someone expecting me to make her a skirt for Sunday and probably for next to nothing .....sorry love , don't do that anymore . In fact haven't done that for about five years.

We have two storage heaters, kids have oil filled heaters, a towel rail and we cook electric = £232 per month. I have just given up - what to do - freeze?!

That is for the last 3 months.
And the forecast is that the weather will stay cold and snow until end of April.

Ouch Ours, combined, is about half that. We cook electric but heat with gas. Mind you, if I hadn't shopped around a bit last month we'd have been paying half as much again, so it might be worth a look on uswitch to see if you can save a bit?

We just had a £700 Leccy bill too, Steve. I won't pay them monthly as they want to set the debit at about a quarter more than we actually use. We have six storage radiators, two are never on, and one only when it's really cold - so all winter, so far. We have no gas here either.

Annoyingly there's no radiator in the bathroom, so we have an oil-filled rad in there when we have a bath, and a wall heater and another fan heater if it's really cold or one of us is ill. It's a detached bungalow on a big plot, so the neighbours don't keep us warm.

Now we know why the rent is cheap.
